Inspired by the paintings of the great Spanish artist Francisco Goya, Enrique Granados’ virtuoso Goyescas is conceived as a ‘wordless imaginary opera’ for Solo Piano, portraying the flirtation, passion, and tragedy of two young lovers. A pinnacle of Spanish Romantic music, this sweeping hour-long cycle includes the immortal ‘Maiden and the Nightingale’ and ‘Fandango by Candlelight’.
