Many of Spain’s great composers were influenced—even formed—by French composers such as Debussy, Chabrier, and Ravel. Turina, Cassadó, de Falla, and Granados all studied in Paris, and invented a rich blend of energetic Spanish idioms, sensuous French color, and modernist innovation. Our season finale showcases CONTEXT’s musicians in dazzling solos and ensembles of this impassioned and seductive music.
