Considered the founder of Czech music, Smetana’s works are imbued with the feeling and directness of Czech folksong and dance. This program features character pieces for violin and piano, and for piano four-hands (especially rich and colorful on our 19th-century Bösendorfer piano), along with Dvorak’s great Piano Quartet in E-flat—one of Dvorak’s warmest and most emotionally intense works.
